Chip architecture-enabled sensitivity enhancement of oblique-incidence reflectivity difference for label-free protein microarray detection

•A simple yet highly efficient strategy is reported to boost the OIRD sensitivity.•PDA film is introduced to the glass surface for microarray chip construction.•PDA serves as an interference layer to enhance the light-matter interaction.•Up to 2 orders of magnitude sensitivity enhancement is demonstrated.
