REM sleep behavior disorder predicts functional dependency in early Parkinson's disease.

•We examined various non-motor symptoms as a predictor of functional dependency in 405 patients with early PD.•The 5-year cumulative incidence of functional dependency among the patients was 17%.•We identified a significant relationship between the presence of RBD at the baseline visit and the development of dependency.
