EEGSourceSim: A framework for realistic simulation of EEG scalp data using MRI-based forward models and biologically plausible signals and noise.

•We present a highly realistic framework for EEG simulation.•The toolbox includes a large dataset of individual surface-based forward models.•This dataset includes regions-of-interest from visual and whole atlases.•We implement highly realistic models of noise fit to real resting state EEG.•We provide application examples with a set of quantitative evaluation metrics.
