A cluster-based pore network model of drying with corner liquid films, with application to a macroporous material

•Presenting a new model of drying in porous media with corner liquid films.•Hydraulic connectivity of liquid clusters is accounted for through films.•Drying simulations compared with experiments on porous asphalt (PA).•Drying behavior of PA is completely different to that of conventional porous media.•Proposed drying model partially captures the complex drying behavior of PA.
