Cryopreservation of immature and mature seeds of Brazilian orchids of the genus Cattleya

•Cryopreservation of immature seeds of the C. harrisoniana × C. walkeriana hybrid and of C. tigrina by the vitrification method.•Cryopreservation of C. guttata mature seeds by direct immersion in LN.•Effect of seed water content on cryopreservation.•Seed cryopreservation from pollination to the production of acclimatized plants.•Plants obtained after seed cryopreservation showed normal phenotypes, morphology and anatomy, without changes in ploidy.
