Does infant speech perception predict later vocabulary development in bilingual infants?

•We tested bilingual infants at 10–11 months on native and non-native speech perception.•Their vocabulary development was later assessed at 2 and 3 years of age.•Native speech perception was a significant predictor of English vocabulary at 2 years.•Native speech perception was a marginally significant predictor of English vocabulary at 3 years.•Non-native speech perception did not predict later vocabulary.
