Gastrointestinal Perforations in Adult Whole-Liver Transplant Patients: Clinical, Radiologic, and Histopathologic Analysis.

•Gastrointestinal perforations in liver transplant recipients are frequently multifocal.•History of previous abdominal surgery and post-transplant early relaparotomy are clinical risk factors.•The pathogenic mechanism is represented by microvascular ischemia.•There are usually no associated signs of macrovascular complications.•Graft-vs-host disease, cytomegalovirus infection, or inflammatory bowel disease seem not have a role in the pathogenesis.
