Design of a "Micro-Module Bank" for Facilitating Higher Education Teachers to Adopt the Flipped Classroom in Practice
2019 International Symposium on Educational Technology (ISET)(2019)
摘要
Nowadays, the flipped classroom has been widely used in higher education. In the flipped classroom model, pre-class learning resources such as pre-class videos normally play a significant role in content delivery. However, it requires teachers to invest a huge amount of time and energy in video production. According to CUHK's Academic Development Proposal for 2016-2019 which is aimed to promote eLearning, many pre-class resources called micro-modules to support the flipped classroom have been constructed by teachers from different faculties. To take full advantage of existing micro-module resources for freeing teachers from time-consuming video production, we propose to design a "micro-module bank" where existing pre-class videos and the corresponding mini-assessment can be directly adopted by teachers who want to harness the flipped classroom in their teaching practice. In addition, our micro-module bank will also provide teachers with pedagogical guidance such as in-class activities recommended by the original designers of these micro-modules.
