摘要

•A viologen-based cationic polymer containing tetraaza macrocycles (VBCOP) was prepared.•VBCOP presented excellent adsorption capacity for Re(VII) through ion-exchange.•XPS and EXAFS spectra indicated that VBCOP0 could bind to the low-valent Re.
