•Regeneration air temperature (Tr) had a favorable impact on VOCs removal by CAHP.•Air cleaning efficiency of CAHP decreased by 5∼15% when Tr decreased by 10°C.•Air cleaning efficiency maintained 50% when Tr was low humidity at 40°C.•Both energy saving and air cleaning were achieved by CAHP operated at Tr=40°C in mild area.
