Fatigue response of electromagnetic riveted joints with different rivet dies subjected to pull-out loading

•The hardness distributions in the driven head of electromagnetic riveted joints with different dies were obtained.•A pull-out fatigue test approach for the riveted joints was proposed.•The riveted joints with 80° rivet die had the best pull-put fatigue properties.•The riveted joints with different dies presented different fatigue failure modes.
