Effects of shapes of biomimetic coupling units on wear resistance of 7075 aluminum alloy

•The surface with softer and harder phase alternative existed was prepared.•The non-smooth surface of 7075 Al alloy was prepared by bionic laser remelting.•The effect of units shapes with single and combined were prepared.•Different forms of biomimetic specimens have better wear resistance.•The dot net composite has the most effective increase in wear resistance.
