Intraoperative contrast-enhanced ultrasound for cerebral glioma resection and the relationship between microvascular perfusion and microvessel density

•Studied contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) for cerebral gliomas (CGs).•Analyzed link between CEUS and microvessel density (MVD) of different CG grades.•Tmax was much shorter and MVD much greater in high-grade CGs than low-grade CGs.•CEUS can enhance CG imaging significantly and display the borders clearly.•CEUS can show CG position and microvascular perfusion, and decide resection extent.
