Position Resolution With Plastic Fibers In Development Of A Compton-Scattering Pet Prototype

摘要
We have developed a pair of sensor head and a prototype data acquisition system for positron emission tomography with a function of time-of-flight measurement. In applying a plastic scintillator suited for timing decision with its fast timing characteristic, we should thus use Compton scattering rather than photoelectric absorption. This paper gives a brief review of the system and describes the development of a plastic fiber array for the better resolution of the gamma-ray interaction position.
