•New polyurethane-based materials (PUS) with starch have been fabricated.•Hydroxyapatite (HAp) was applied as a bioactive crosslinking component.•TGA indicated enhancement of the thermal stability of modified PUS.•Modifications increase glass transition activation energy of PUS soft segments.
