Gypsum crystal growth kinetics under conditions relevant to CO2 geological storage

•Gypsum growth rate was found to decrease with increasing pressure.•Gypsum growth rate was found to increase with increasing dissolved CO2 concentration.•The CO2 and pressure effect on the reaction kinetics was separated into the thermodynamic and kinetic properties of the solution.•The attributed effect of CO2 and pressure on the solution thermodynamics was found to be the most significant in dictating the overall growth rate.
