The aim of the present research is to develop a novel nano-magnetic catalyst based on Co complex. EDX analysis showed that 0.08?mmol Co is loaded per g of the catalyst. The characterization of the prepared catalyst was done according to the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), vibrational sample magnetometry (VSM), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The prepared catalyst was used in the synthesis of 1,2,4,5-substituted imidazoles by the one-pot four-component reaction. Of the prepared catalyst, some advantages are solvent-free condition, short reaction time, and easy catalyst recovery. As a design of experiment (DOE) method, the response surface methodology (RSM) was used to the optimization of the reaction conditions. The optimal reaction conditions were achieved at 0.05?g and 100(?)C concerning the amount of the catalyst and temperature, respectively.
