Evaluation in education and Guidance: overview from international approaches

After having celebrated the "Evaluation in education and guidance" track in TEEM'18 in Salamanca (Spain), we present this introductory paper on Evaluation in Education and Guidance building up from the contributions made in this edition of TEEM'19 that has been held in León (Spain). In the previous editions we have presented the advances of the studies in Educational Assessment conducted by the research team belonging to the Institute of Educational Sciences (IUCE) at the University of Salamanca, as well as those of other national teams specialised in educational assessment. Being the University of León the conference organisers in this edition, we would like to include ÉVORI Research Group: Assessment, Guidance and Educational Policies from this university, as well as continuing to open to international teams, in this edition with a high participation from Latin American colleagues, who will contribute with interesting advances in educational fields as relevant as the assessment of programmes, schools and institutions, or the impact of educational actions on learning. Nowadays, educational assessment constitutes a key element for the improvement of competences acquired by students, the quality of any programme or, in its broadest sense, the quality of the education system as a whole. In this track we seek to share methodologies and research results about diverse assessment practices both at individual and at institutional level. In both cases, assessment is targeted to improve the process of student learning and, hence, contributes to improve the education system, both at University and non-university levels.
