•The amino acid compositions and physicochemical properties of ALP and ACP were calculated.•Classification using PseAAC and dipeptide composition showed over 80 % accuracy.•The motif features in ALP and ACP were analyzed.•The binding free energy and the level of the enzymes produced by bacteria was used to compare two group of phosphatase.
