Weak Signal Extraction Based on Blind Source Separation in Passive Radar

Because of some advantages of passive radar system, such as covert operation, low vulnerability, low cost and so on, passive radar will become a hot trend in radar system research in the future. The key problem in this system is the extraction of weak echo signal, which is always submerged in direct path signal, multipath, interference and a background of noise. In this paper, blind source separation (BSS) algorithm is proposed to extract desired echo signal in passive radar. The Householder transformation is applies to realize the joint approximate diagonalization of the eigen-matrices and then achieve the separation of the weak target signal and the other signals. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
