Petrology and geochemistry of TTG and K-rich Paleoproterozoic Birimian granitoids of the West African Craton (Ghana): Petrogenesis and tectonic implications

•Paleoproterozoic K-rich granitoids were formed in arc-continental settings.•The formation temperatures and pressures of of the rocks are ~640–750 °C and ~2–6 kbar.•The rocks are I-type, metaluminous to slightly peraluminous, shoshonitic, oxidized and subduction related.•Paleoproterozoic K-rich granitoids are interpreted to have intruded into TTGs.
