The physical properties of human jawbone, spongy bone, collagen and the human bone substitute Cerabone® have been investigated in vitro using terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy (TDS). The refractive indices n(f) and linear absorption coefficients $\alpha $(f) of collagen, bone tissue and transplantation material have been determined within the range of the spectrum between 0.2 THz and 2.5 THz. The obtained results allow us to determine the proximity of the physical properties of the Cerabone® bone transplantation material with the natural bone matrix.
