Evaporation Duct Refractivity Inversions from Fixed Transmitter-Fixed Receiver UWB Measurements

This paper explores the point-to-point ultra wideband fixed link atmospheric refractivity estimation. The Lower Atmospheric Propagation Ultrawideband (LATPROP-UWB) measurement system was deployed during CASPER-West. A multifrequency objective function is used to invert for the M-profile for a range-independent case. Monte Carlo analysis is performed to obtain estimator variances for increasing SNR and varying numbers of frequencies. A couple of CASPER-West data with evaporation duct are investigated and used to test the algorithm.
