Clean and clear (out): A neat method for the recovery of latent fingermarks from crime-scenes.

•Fingermark development methods are often destructive to the crime scene.•A novel non-destructive approach for recovery of fingermarks and DNA is shown.•Gel lifters are used to transfer latent biological traces from the crime scene.•The gel lifters are developed in the laboratory by the use of black wet powder.•The method shows good potential especially for ecological and intelligence purposes.
