摘要

•Reference intervals for hair cortisol, measured with LC-MS/MS in children aged 0-18 years are provided.•Hair cortisol levels are high after birth with a sharp fall in the first 3 months of life.•The lowest hair cortisol levels are found in children 6 years of age after which it increases gradually and subtle until the age of 18 years.•Average hair-growth velocity is significantly lower in infants than in toddlers.
