Assisting Italian DVB-T users against LTE Signal Impairments: The “HELP Interferenze” Project

In this work an analysis of achieved results during the Italian campaign to cope with interferences caused by LTE systems operating in the 800 MHz band on DVB-T user terminals is reported. Since 2012 this activity has been carried out in the framework of HELP Interferenze project supported by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development (MiSE) in cooperation with mobile Operators. In the paper an approach based on the definition of risk areas and user issues management as well as a methodology to evaluate interference effects generated by LTE signals on DVB-T ones through numerical simulation are illustrated. An overview of project results achieved with the implementation of the above mentioned methodology, showing the reliability of this approach, is also provided.
