摘要
Purpose Taekwondo is a sport in which the execution of high-performance punches is essential to a higher score. Among the blows performed in competitions, the roundhouse is the most frequently used. This study analyzed the biomechanical variables during the execution of roundhouse kicks by Taekwondo athletes to verify the main aspects of high-performance kicks and to assist coaches in the development of specific training. Methods Eight professional Taekwondo athletes were evaluated during the execution of a series of kicks against a kicker. The data was obtained through a motion reconstruction system and by wireless electromyography devices. Results In this study, the variables were analyzed in the loading and kicking phase. In the loading phase, the knee and hip extension were essential to prompt the movement in the kicking phase. Both phases analyzed are essential for the execution of a perfect kick. Conclusion The evaluation of these two phases (loading and kicking) made it possible to determine which variables should be considered by the coach in the specific training for the development of the athlete.
