Power structure and channel integration strategy for online retailers

•We examine an online retailer’s integration strategy with an express company.•Six scenarios under three power structures are discussed and compared.•We identify three important factors influencing the integration strategy.•The online retailer prefers integration only in the online Stackelberg game.•A mixed channel relaxes the strict condition for integration.
