摘要

•Simultaneous nitrification/Fe0AD (SNAD) was first proposed.•Fe0AD was enhanced at dissolved oxygen of 0-1.56 mg/L.•The AOB, NOB, and facultative denitrificans were simultanously enriched.•The utilization of iron-scraps could markedly reduce the nitrogen removal cost.•The proposed SNAD is competitive in ammonia contaminated low-carbon water treatment.
