Analytical solution of the governing equations for heat and mass transfer in evaporative cooling process

•An analytical solution for the Poppe's model is developed using power series.•The analytical solution is restricted to cooling processes with unsaturated air.•The solution obtained is computationally more efficient.•The experimental validation of the analytical solution is presented.•The solution could be easily implemented in complex optimization schemes.
