Long-term Shear Performance of Bare and Cement Mortar-Coated BFRP Bars in Corrosive Environments

•Shear performance of cement mortar-coated BFRP bars in corrosive environments was investigated.•The durability of BFRP bars is sensitive to the alkalinity of the surrounding environments.•Alkali-silica reaction (ASR) caused by silica containing in basalt fiber was demonstrated.•The size effect of mortar coating was found on the ASR.
