Room-temperature fabricated artificial synapse modulated by ultrathin SiOx buffer layer

•LCO-based artificial synapse was fabricated at room temperature.•Analog behaviors were effectively modulated by ultrathin buffer layer.•The device showed satisfied synaptic characteristics such as forgetting, learning, and relearning processes.•This work paves a new way for developing neural network, artificial intelligence, flexible and wearable electronics.
