摘要

•Biogenic protocol was designed for processing of Ag/CaO nanocomposites (NCs).•Antibacterial activity of Ag/CaO NCs was observed against both the gram positive bacteria (S. aureus and MRSA).•Antibacterial action of the NCs is expected to be due to generation of ROS.•NC has maintained the antibacterial efficacy of Ag NPs but reduced its toxicity towards mammalian cells.
