Surreptitious Opioid Misuse in the General Hospital via Rectal Administration: A Case Report
Psychosomatics(2020)
摘要
Abstract As access to a wider variety of illicit substances increases, so do creative mechanisms to utilize substances inside general hospitals among admitted patients. It is important for consultation-liaison psychiatry providers to be aware of the latest routes of administration for these substances. We present a case of a man who rectally inserted crushed opioids mixed with water via a syringe (without a needle), which ultimately contributed to his death. Informally, this is most commonly called “plugging,” “booty bumping,” “hooping,” “boofing,” or “butt rocketing.”
