A novel prognostic nomogram based on microvascular invasion and hematological biomarkers to predict survival outcome for hepatocellular carcinoma patients

•A novel nomogram was developed and validated to predict the OS for HCC patients.•Our study incorporated MVI and hematological factors into the TNM stage system, which account for different types of HCC prognosis and found that the predictive accuracy of nomogram was superior to the other biomarker alone.•The nomograms are not only derived from a large and well-characterised development cohort, but also validated in an equally matched validation cohort.•The nomogram showed an easy-to-use and effective tool for clinicians to choose and plan treatment strategies for HCC patients.
