Characteristics and analysis of a turbulent offset jet including the effect of density and offset height

•The behavior of a 3D turbulent offset jet injected with different densities was experimentally investigated.•The flow visualization and mean velocity measurements were conducted using a Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) technique.•The effects of the density ratio and the offset height ratio on the flow structure were examined.•The reattachment length of offset jets with various jet densities was estimated and validated numerically.
