摘要
Introduction: Thyroid nodules are common thyroid lesions in the community. Thyroid Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB) is important in the diagnosis of these lesions and in the planning of the treatment. Matherials and Methods: In our study, 104 patients who underwent thyroid operation between January 2015 and March 2017 at the General Surgery Department of Eskisehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine were reviewed retrospectively. The results were compared with the results of surgical specimens. Discussion and Result: In our series, when the cases with suspicion were considered as negative; the sensitivity of the test was 26%, the specificity of the test was 96%, the positive predictive value of the test was 95%, negative predictive value was 33%, and the accuracy was 46%. But when the cases with suspicion were considered positive, the sensitivity of the test was 73%, the specificity was 72%, the positive predictive value of the test was 87%, the negative predictive value was 51% and the accuracy rate was 73%. Although it has an important function in planning the treatment of thyroid nodular lesions of the thyroid gland, it should be kept in mind that the nodules may have a malignant potential despite the benign outcome of TIIAB.
