Intelligent Manufacturing Control Systems: The Core of Smart Factory

In contrast to the traditional Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) monitoring and controlling shop floor devices with a centralized or hierarchical architecture, synergistic components collaborate with each other in a smart factory of the era of Industry 4.0. A smart factory is capable to cope with the disturbances of the market, the supply chain, or the factory itself. This research proposes intelligent Manufacturing Control System (iMCS) as a core function of the smart factory to replace the conventional SCADA.
