Experimental Study on Transmission Efficiency of Hydro-viscous Clutch

Focus on transmission efficiency of high-power hydro-viscous clutch (HVC), several experiments is carried out respectively to study the transmission efficiency in different speed and different inlet flow pressure. The results show that the transmission efficiency will increase with the rising of the input speed and decrease as oil inlet pressure increases. The rule that increasing the speed and reducing the oil inlet pressure between the friction pairs can improve the transmission efficiency is obtained. Furthermore, it is found that transmission efficiency loss is related to oil film thickness, output speed, inlet pressure and other factors.
