A Compact Base Station System for Biotelemetry and Wireless Charging of Biomedical Implants

A new compact design of the base station system for biotelemetry and wireless charging of implanted medical devices (IMDs) is proposed. This base station system consists of various communication methods such as Medical Implant Communication Service (MICS), Near Field Communication (NFC), and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to make it adaptable to the communication environment. This proposed system also can inject energy wirelessly to implanted devices using 13.56 MHz electromagnetic field with coils. This proposed system can be used effectively in biomedical implants especially required to send bio-signals from the body to the external monitoring device. Furthermore, this proposed system can also be used as a wearable application for the same purpose.
