•LSMO epitaxial thin film was prepared via the pulser laser deposition method.•MnO6 octahedral deformation is detected by Raman active modes.•LSMO thin films terminate in La(SrO) plane independent of the film thickness.•LSMO magnetization curve modifies at different preparation conditions.
