Fabrication and factory acceptance test of ITER UPSE installation tool

•It is presented the UPSE installation tool to lift, transfer and align the component to its final welding position.•The UPSE installation tool including main supporting frame and align units to meet assembly requirements and procedure was designed to align UPSE with ±2 mm align tolerance.•The structural integrities were verified using ANSYS analysis considering safety factor 2.0. The results show that all stress level is less than allowable stress.•The accuracy of the alignment system was verified by mock-up test. The maximum alignment accuracy of 1.3 mm was shown comparing assembly tolerance of ±2 mm.•Full load test according to EN 1570-1 was performed to verity its structural integrity. The results show that only 2.8 mm of deflection and no permanent deformation was found.
