The Poller Screw Technique: A Method of Fine-Tuning the Reduction in Locked Nailing

Intramedullary nailing is the treatment of choice for diaphyseal fractures in long bones. However, nailing of long bone fractures at the metaphyseodiaphyseal junction is technically difficult and can cause malalignment because of the mismatch in the diameter of the bone. One of the most common and recently described methods of correcting deformity during nailing is the poller screw technique. We describe a modified technique to correct malreduced fractures with the nail in situ, which we have used successfully in 3 patients. (C) 2019 by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
