Evaluation of Taenia solium cyst fluid-based enzyme linked immunoelectro transfer blot for Neurocysticercosis diagnosis in urban and highly endemic rural population of North India.

•EITB is the only serological tool acceptable for Neurocysticercosis diagnosis.•Commercially available ELISA is unsuitable for NCC diagnosis in endemic regions.•Detection of any band of <50 kDa was not associated with NCC in rural populations.•15 kDa band had significant association with NCC in both study groups.•17 kDa and 35 kDa bands were linked to degenerating cyst and multiple cysticerci.
