•N-Butylbenzenesulfonamide (NBBS) is a plasticizer detected in the environment.•NBBS was evaluated in a dosed-feed perinatal study in Sprague Dawley rats.•Effects included overt toxicity, lower body weights, and decreased pup survival.•Preliminary internal measurement data indicated NBBS transfer from dam to fetus.
