Measurement of wettability on rhombohedral pattern fabricated by using 3D-UEVT

•A better surface topography with fewer micro defects was obtained using a 3D-UEVT.•Micro-grid pattern improves slightly the wettability compared to a smooth surface.•Wettability of the micro-grid pattern is in the Wenzel state or hydrophilic state.•Pitch size of 250 µm is recommended due to a good wettability and low anisotropy.•Wettability could be shifted from 200 to 300 µm as the inclination angle increases.
