•A suspicious pill-type products were delivered to Korea from UK by Korean Customs.•M-ALPHA-HMCA was structurally elucidated using various analytical equipment.•Pharmacological and toxicological studies of this compound have not been conducted.•M-ALPHA-HMCA use as a recreational drug should be prohibited.
