The impact of having an oxygen-rich microporous surface in carbon electrodes for high-power aqueous supercapacitors

Lignin-based free-standing electrodes are tested as symmetric supercapacitor electrodes. The simultaneous polarisation of the electrodes upon charge discharge indicates that just a small increase in oxygen species within the micro pores is enough to enhance the performance of the device.
