•Coronary microcirculatory dysfunction could be simulated using computational fluid dynamics.•MR variations in a branch with mild stenosis has limited hemodynamic effects on other branches.•Increased MR in a highly stenosed branch increases the blood flow and iFR of its cognate branches.
