Subjective assessment of compressed 3 d video

This paper is concerned with the subjective assessment of compressed 3D video. The generated test 3D video sequences are full HD 3D video sequences consisting of the original uncompressed 3D video sequences and their compressed versions which were generated at different bitrates using recent standard video codecs including H.264/AVC and its Scalable Video Coding (SVC) and Multi-View Video Coding (MVC) extensions. Subjective tests are conducted, focusing on the spatio-temporal visual quality, depth perception and naturalness. Experimental results show that MVC exhibits the highest performance on average for 3D video both in terms of R-D curves and subjective tests.
